Aboriginal Affairs Victoria (AAV)

AAV is the Victorian Government’s central point of advice regarding all aspects of Aboriginal affairs in Victoria. AAV also promotes understanding about Victoria’s Aboriginal people amongst the wider community, and administers legislation to protect Aboriginal cultural heritage.

Institute of Koorie Education

This institute prides itself on being able to develop customised, appropriate teaching styles, together with incorporation of Koorie cultural knowledge and perspectives into the curriculum.

Koorie Heritage Trust Inc.

The Koorie Heritage Trust Inc. aims to protect, preserve and promote the living culture of the Indigenous people of south-eastern Australia, and works towards the broader goals of reconciliation for all Australians.

Kulin Nation – The People (Yarra Healing)

Yarra Healing promotes the voices of local Indigenous people of Melbourne and its surrounding areas, who are the Kulin Nation, giving expression to their stories.

National Aboriginal Islander Day Observance Committee – Victoria

Promotes the rich Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage and aims to increase the awareness of this heritage to all people on a regional, national and international level.

Onemda VicHealth Koori Health Unit

A unit run through The University of Melbourne, Onemda aims to foster an academic environment that values Aboriginal knowledge and methodologies, supports ethical practice and Aboriginal self-determination, and is informed by the principles of Aboriginal community development.

Secretariat National Aboriginal and Islander Child Care (SNAICC)

SNAICC is a national non government peak body in Australia representing the interests and advocating the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.

Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO)

VACCHO, a state affiliate of NACCHO, represents the collective of all Aboriginal community controlled health organisations throughout Victoria. A list of their members can also be accessed.

Victorian Aboriginal Corporation for Languages (VACL)

VACL addresses the issues of language loss and is the state body responsible for coordinating Community Language Programs throughout Victoria.

Victorian Aboriginal Education Association Incorporated (VAEAI)

VAEAI promotes access and advocacy for Koories through the development and provision of culturally relevant education programs, in supportive learning environments, and reinforcing cultural identity. VAEAI also provides education to the wider community to increase awareness of Koorie culture, communities and aspirations.

Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS)

VAHS provides culturally appropriate primary health care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people throughout Victoria, in a holistic way.

Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service (VALS)

VALS is a community owned and controlled co-operative that provides legal aid and assistance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Victorian Aboriginal Youth Sport and Recreation Co-operative (VAYSAR)

VAYSAR is a community based organisation that provides opportunities, empowerment, support and encouragement of Koorie participation in sport and recreation at all levels, acknowledging the positive impact it has on health, culture and wellbeing of the Koorie community.

Wirraway Mirrim Aboriginal Researchers Group

Wirraway Mirrim is a forum for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander researchers to meet and support each other, and aims to affirm, enhance, and facilitate the skills and knowledge of Indigneous researchers and the research that they conduct.
